A box of ideas from the Bay Area scene of the late 1970s, compiled in 1978 by Bob Davis with Rich Gold for the Center for Contemporary Music at Mills College. Nearly a hundred contributors sent graphic scores, instructions, diagrams and project proposals, reproduced on 152 loose xeroxed sheets in an illustrated envelope.
Composers rub shoulders with writers, filmmakers and performance artists: Robert Ashley, Alvin Lucier, Pauline Oliveros and David Tudor next to Kathy Acker and Hollis Frampton, with pages by Steve Reich, Frederick Rzewski, Joan La Barbara, Rhys Chatham, Maggi Payne and the designer of the Buchla synthesizers, Don Buchla.
