With Dans-sons as we are, Audrey Lauro, Christian Pruvost and Peter Orins deliver an album shaped by subtle shifts, restrained tensions and slow transformations of sound matter. A music of listening as much as gesture, where each intervention seems to open a new space rather than occupy the previous one. Brought together through a shared practice of free improvisation, the three musicians develop a collective language that is both dense and constantly in motion. The trio never seeks spectacular effects or technical display; instead, it works within zones of friction, circulation and instability. Sounds emerge, contaminate one another and extend into each other until the very origin of the sonic sources sometimes becomes blurred.

Audrey Lauro’s saxophone explores breath as much as pitch, rough textures as much as fleeting lines. On trumpet, Christian Pruvost plays with pressure variations, harmonics and acoustic accidents, maintaining a constant attention to the collective space. Peter Orins approaches the drums as a field of resonances and reliefs, bringing out diffuse pulsations, granular textures and at times more frontal dynamics. What stands out in Dans-sons as we are is the trio’s ability to sustain a continuous tension without ever freezing the discourse. The music always feels as though it is being created in the very moment we hear it. A fragile breath can become a sonic mass; an almost imperceptible rhythmic figure gradually shifts the entire balance of the group; a silence suddenly opens a new perspective.

The album belongs to a certain European tradition of improvised music, attentive to timbre, acoustic phenomena and collective construction, yet without theoretical posture or austerity. On the contrary, something deeply physical runs through this music: an attention to the body, to breathing, to the energy of gestures and to the immediate presence of sound. Dans-sons as we are unfolds like a journey, with its dense areas, its breathing spaces and its tipping points. An inhabited music in which the listener can move freely, following details, tensions or simply the overall motion of the sounds. Here, the trio asserts a strong identity grounded in mutual listening and the constant transformation of sonic material. An open, living music that draws its strength from attention to the present moment and from the three musicians’ ability to build together a shared space that is always in the process of becoming.
