Original German edition on ECM of the 1977 album featuring Charlie Haden.

condition (record/cover): NM / VG+ (lamination peeling off near edge)

The American Quartet's finest single statement, and the one record from that band that even people who dislike Keith Jarrett tend to concede. Recorded in 1976, The Survivors' Suite is one continuous piece spread across two sides, moving from a slow collective opening through gospel-inflected vamps into passages of genuine turbulence and back out again. Dewey Redman plays some of the best tenor of his career, Charlie Haden is monumental, and Paul Motian keeps dissolving the pulse just when you have located it. Jarrett adds soprano saxophone, recorder and osi drums to the piano. The structure is enormous and completely legible.

Original ECM pressing. If you only keep one record from this band, it should probably be this one.
