By 1976 Can had lost Damo Suzuki and gained a chart single, an outcome nobody would have forecast from Monster Movie. Flow Motion finds the band leaning into groove and surface gloss, and its disco-tinted I Want More became a real UK hit, mimed on Top of the Pops by a group long resigned to being critics' property.
Around it sit reggae, dub, and the old motorik pulse buffed smooth for the floor. Purists tend to mark it as the beginning of the decline; taken without that freight it is a likeable, faintly improbable record by a band testing how far its methods would bend toward pop. Virgin handled the release.
