Tip! Tip! Tip! After carrying the idea around for a while, the team at Habibi Funk finally brings their vision of a print music magazine to life. Spotlights gathers research from their own releases alongside stories that reach beyond the label's catalog - 88 pages, A4 format, and each copy comes with a bonus poster by Raphaelle Macaron imagining Sun Ra's first concert in Egypt.

The cover features the inimitable Sun Ra performing in Cairo in 1971, at the apartment of Cairo Jazz Band co-founder Hartmut Geerken. Inside, a comprehensive final conversation with the late Geerken, recorded at his home in Germany in 2021. The issue also delves into the visual world of Moroccan studio photographer Fouad Zerrei, profiles anonymous Soul singer Pale Jay, and explores how Mulatu Astatke's timeless Ethio-jazz classic "Tezeta" became a cinematic tool in RaMell Ross' 2024 film Nickel Boys. Vinyl collectors Algerian Vinyl and CrocoDiscos share their most beloved records.

Edited by Armani Syed, with texts by Ahmed Khalil, Yasser Abellatif, Gabrielle Messeder, Joshua Thermidor, Armani Syed and Jannis Stürtz. Design by Robert Winter, Jeremias Diekmann and Raphaelle Macaron.
