condition (record/cover): NM / NM - Silver foil front and back sleeve. Green labels. Le Voyage (D'Après Le Livre Des Morts Tibétain) confronts the Bardo Thodol, that text accompanying the soul through intermediate states between death and rebirth. Pierre Henry constructs an electroacoustic journey lasting an entire LP side, initiatory voyage compressed into roughly forty minutes.
Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert had already used the Tibetan Book of the Dead as map for the psychedelic experience. Henry sought no chemical shortcuts but something analogous through acoustic means: sounds that would alter consciousness, that would lead the listener through normally inaccessible territories. The ambition was enormous, the outcome controversial, the attempt undeniable. Philips gambled on transcendence; whether the bet pays off depends on who's listening.
