Paul Mauriat's hold on the Japanese market was so complete that Philips Japan pressed his albums with local catalogue numbers, local sleeves and sometimes local tracklists, and this is one of them. The 1970 album named for a Stone et Charden hit is Mauriat at the height of his formula: a harpsichord or a Fender Rhodes stating the theme, strings in close harmony, a rhythm section playing a beat that is not quite rock and not quite bossa.

The Japanese pressings are the ones to buy, quieter and heavier than the French. The sleeve photography (French countryside, soft filter) is exactly what the Japanese market wanted from France in 1970, and Mauriat was happy to provide it, becoming perhaps the most-recorded Frenchman in Japanese living rooms. Philips PM series.
