Same catalogue series as the last entry, different continent. Latin Album has Paul Mauriat working through Brazilian and Spanish-language material, and it is where his arranging instincts are most exposed: bossa nova with a French accent, a rhythm section that swings in a strictly Parisian way. The string writing is, as ever, impeccable.
This is a record about the export of exports, French easy listening reprocessing Brazilian music for Japanese buyers, and it works because Mauriat's melodic sense was strong enough to survive any amount of cultural translation. Japanese Philips pressing.
