Endless Happiness proudly presents a reissue of Prepare Thyself To Deal With A Miracle, the legendary album by jazz multi-instrumentalist Rahsaan Roland Kirk, originally released in August 1973 on Atlantic Records.
Recorded in January 1973 at Regent Sound Studios in New York City, this album stands as one of Kirk’s most adventurous and experimental works. Showcasing his mastery of multiple horns and flutes—including his famous nose flute—Kirk weaves together a tapestry of sound that is at once bold, visionary, and deeply spiritual. The album features an extraordinary ensemble, including Charles McGhee on trumpet, Dick Griffin on trombone, Harry Smiles on oboe, a string quartet, and vocalists Dee Dee Bridgewater and Jeanne Lee, among others.
Thom Jurek of AllMusic describes the album as “perhaps Kirk’s most experimental recording,” highlighting its exploration of drones and layered instrumentation, with melodic and improvisational lines taking a back seat to a more immersive, atmospheric experience. This is Kirk at his most inventive, pushing the boundaries of jazz and sound itself.
