*300 copies limited edition* Terraform - I Knud Viktors Lydspor was a residency program in conjunction with the exhibition and cultural program Put Your Ears to the Ground - Sound Painter Knud Viktor on Samsø.
Knud Viktor grew up in Pillemark on Samsø island. He later moved to the South of France where he became a pioneer in field recording and acoustic ecology. In 2023, the art council of Samsø organized an exhibition and event series with a focus on Viktor, whose works were presented at a number of locations around the island. As part of this, local organization Terraform appointed curators Jenny Gräf Sheppard and Jan Høgh Stricker to invite a group of four artists to Agerupgård on the island of Samsø, and to Sound Art Lab - located at Bang & Olufsen’s former research studios in Struer, DK. The artists were challenged to create a new work, with Knud Viktor’s oeuvre and methods in mind as a possible starting point.
The outcome of the residency was presented during a public event at Agerupgård. Nanna Elvin Hansen and Lieven Martens each presented a new composition on a quadraphonic speaker setup. Melissa van Drie and Sarah Sikorie both presented sound installations. These works are documented in this edition. During the event we also listened to Knud Viktor’s quadraphonic piece Image IX – L’armoire. A stereo edit of this piece is also included in this edition.
