'The Icy Echoer constitutes a premiere in many respects, for both, the label and the artists. After countless collaborations with the likes of Leif Elggren, CM von Hausswolff, Bryan Lewis Saunders and others (mostly released on CD), this 7' marks the first time that Esposito's works are published on vinyl, while the same applies to the Fragment Factory. Likewise, believe it or not, it's the very first appearance of Drumm on a 7' platter. Michael Esposito is an experimental artist and long-time researcher in Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP), currently located in Chicago, IL. The EVPs which form the basis for 'The Icy Echoer' were taken at St. John - St. Joseph cemetery in Hammond, IL, which has the reputation of being one of the most haunted places in the US. Kevin Drumm, based in Chicago as well, was certainly among the very first names that sunk deep into my memory when I became interested in experimental music back in the day. After a vast number of remarkable outputs on such labels as Nihilist, Hospital, Pica Disk, Editions Mego and several more during the past 13+ years, I'm eminently happy to bring this one into the light of day. A document which I personally consider not only as the perfect interaction between two of the most exciting contemporary sound artists, but also as a significant point in the development of the Fragment Factory.'
