Casilina Tapes 2010-2017
Edition of 300. Heroin In Tahiti is a duo from Rome, Italy hailing from the Roma Est scene, a sort of local community based in the crumbling and deteriorated neighborhoods which were already eternalized by Pasolini and Neorealist Cinema (think of Pasolini, De Sica, Visconti, etc.) The duo plays a variety of cheap guitars, analog synths, drum machines, and pedals, achieving a dirtiness which is tragically lo-fi and out-of-time at the same time: a "Spaghetti Wasteland", as they call it. In 2012 th…
For All The Fucked-Up Children Of This World We Give You
In 1984, Spacemen 3 made their first-ever recording session and sold a few cassettes at now-legendary, incendiary gigs. Growing out of the dual guitar attack of Jason Pierce and Pete Kember, the band's three-piece line up with Natty Brooker on drums offered a liturgical take on '60s psychedelia, bare-knuckle blues and stunning feedback. This early glimpse into the Spacemen 3 cosmos – crafted by and for all the fucked-up children of this world – captures the band's unorthodox approach to rock 'n' …
Drumming
Steve Reich's Drumming is regarded as one of the most important musical works of the last century. Distilled through his studies of African percussion in Ghana during 1970 and Balinese gamelan music, Reich revolutionized our understanding of polyrhythms, sculpting a new sonic territory to illuminate the radical potential of Minimalism.Divided into four sections, performed without pause, Drumming is written for eight small tuned drums, three marimbas, three glockenspiels, piccolo and voice. The s…
Bass Terror
Red vinyl. Edition of 400. Sub Rosa present the first LP issue of Bass Terror from Bill Laswell and Nicholas James Bullen, originally released as a CD in Sub Rosa's Subsonic series in 1995. Bass Terror Tetragrammaton" is the dark side of Bill Laswell at the peak of his art in 1995 -- he goes into a black trance. The piece is not from a collaboration, it was designed alone, in his studio in Brooklyn. "Bass Terror Tetragrammaton" is also to be linked to an alchemical process. "Nocturnal Crawl" is …
Next One's Called
Pseudocode in a kind of free form minimal  electronique concrete mood. There's even the odd suggestion of a pop tune here and there, maybe even some danceable beats; if you've got one leg shorter than the other. While Xavier S. contributes most of the lyrics and vocals, Guy-Marc Hinant plays often the core melody on guitar or electric piano, Neffe's contributions are particularly noteworthy throughout, as he weaves together the bulk of the sonic cloth through overdubbing and mixing.one of his par…
Principe di un Giorno
LP version. "Principe di un giorno" is the first and only album by Celeste, a Ligurian group born from the ashes of Il Sistema, a band with a considerable potential that, however, never managed to release a proper LP. Recorded between 1974 and the following year, "Principe di un giorno" was only published in '76, kept in the drawer by a label that kept saying they were waiting for the right time to release it, just to put it in the stores at the wrong moment! The almost non-existent consideration…
Contamination
2018 small repress. “Contamination” was released in 1980 as a soundtrack for the eponymous horror/science fiction film, during what probably was the most prolific period in Goblin’s career, even if the band had already been abandoned by guitarist Massimo Morante and keyboardist Claudio Simonetti. Unkonwn by most listeners, it’s a release that deserves more attention, since it shows a wide range of music styles (Jazz, funk, rock, electronic) and once again Goblin’s ability in writing film scores.
Patrick
2018 small repress. “Patrick” is an Australian thriller/horror movie made in 1978; at the beginning of the following year, Goblin were asked by the Italian distributor of the film, De Laurentis, to write a new soundtrack – originally composed by an Australian musician called… Brian May! – for the Italian movie market. The result is a mix of old songs chosen added by the Cinevox Record label and new selections, strongly influenced by Alan Parsons Project.
Tenebre
2018 small repress. “Tenebre” is the soundtrack of the eponymous film directed by Dario Argento in 1982, which celebrated today its 30th anniversary. Even if released as ‘Simonetti – Pignatelli – Morante’, it’s usually considered an actual Goblin album; as many people know, the ‘real’ Goblin were releasing the LP “Volo” at the same time, and the band’s name and logo could not be used for copyright reasons.“Tenebre” is the last great collaboration between Argento and Goblin: here Dario Argento mo…

Alucinacao
"A great early album from Belchior – much rootsier than some of his later work, with a groove that almost feels like samba soul at times! The arrangements provide quick-stepping samba elements on some of the best tracks, mixed with more modern funky styles in this really great way".(Dusty Groove)
Se O Caso É Chorar
"Wonderful 70s work from Tom Zé! The record's a bit more straightforward than some of his other records from the decade, and has a number of tracks with a samba sound at the base – but there's more than enough fantastic material to keep the record fresh, and Tom's writing is as great as ever. There's a vocal group that sings with Zé on many of the tracks on the record – but they also seem to sometimes act as a Greek chorus, in response to breakaway vocal passages that are dominated by Zé. The wh…
Roforofo Fight
"A brilliant album from Fela Kuti – and one that shows him really coming into his own, with that tremendous new sound that would go onto influence decades of musicians! The title track – Roforofo Fight – is a side-long jam that instantly sets a new standard for African funk – skittish drums, a sweet keyboard line that snakily sets the groove, and a wonderful long alto solo that's got even more raspy soul than Fela's vocals! Those vocals are sometimes more broken up, verbally – and have an instru…
Danish Tape Amateurs 1959 - 1976
Outstanding! Long understood as the realm of advanced composition, plumbed only by a small handful of adventurous listeners, the spirit which began the history of tape music and musique concrète, is too often overshadowed and lost. This incredible movement, kick-started by Halim El-Dabh, Pierre Schaeffer, and Pierre Henry, shortly after magnetic tape became widely available following the Second World War, was quickly adopted by many of the most noted composers of the day, from  Messiaen and Boul…
Mudei de Ideia
A truly fantastic record that sounds the way it looks – psychedelic rock, samba-funk and tripped out MPB. Features Kabaluerê as sampled by Marcelo D2 on his hit Qual e?. Arranged by Rogerio Duprat, featuring legendary guitarist Lanny Gordin. Antonio Carlos & Jocafi were a very successful and famous Brazilian writing duo, born in Bahia. They worked with the likes of Wilson Simonal, Rosinha De Valença, Trio Mocotó, Milton Banana, Toquinho and more. Originally released on RCA Brazil in 1971, this w…
