Four crotales, each bowed for sixteen minutes, with sine tones set against them four minutes at a time. The score offers ten possibilities for each crotale, two hundred and fifty across the range of the instrument. Greg Stuart chose four and sent Pisaro the recordings.

CD, seventy-two minutes, with extensive notes and a reproduced page of the score. Composed by Michael Pisaro, played by Greg Stuart.

The construction is easy to state. Four crotales, each one bowed for sixteen minutes. Against each crotale, sine tones, one after another, four minutes each. The score gives ten possibilities for every crotale, and across the instrument's two octave range there are two hundred and fifty of them. Stuart selected four instruments and sent the recordings over; Pisaro then chose and scaled the sine tones, set the stereo balance, and mixed each pairing a little differently.

Out of that very large field of possible versions come four connected pieces, working their way up in range, each with a distinct profile. Pisaro has said they are structured with a distant echo of a four movement symphony. That accounts for the shape and for nothing else about the listening.
