The first studio album by the George Adams - Don Pullen Quartet, recorded at Fendal Sound Studio in Loenen aan de Vecht, in the Dutch countryside, between 3 and 5 August 1980, and produced by the two leaders themselves for Timeless.
Adams on tenor and flute, Pullen on piano, Cameron Brown on bass, Dannie Richmond on drums. Neil Tesser, in the Playboy Book of Jazz, wrote that the presence of Richmond, Mingus's drummer and protégé for over two decades, made it clear that this band saw itself as carrying on where Mingus had stopped; he heard screeching solos from Adams and tightly wound chord clusters from Pullen.
Six pieces: Magnetic Love Field, Dionysus, Saturday Nite in the Cosmos, More Flowers, Sophisticated Alice and the eight-minute title track. AllMusic's Steve Loewy describes a generally upbeat session where most of the originals are blowing vehicles, Richmond drives the saxophonist, Brown hits hard, and Pullen is more pensive than usual. He rates the Adams flute playing as a pleasure but a step below his tenor, and locates the best moments in the exchanges between the two leaders.
