Howl by Daisy Rickman offers a luminous journey through Cornish and English folk, steeped in mythic sun worship, nocturnal dreamscapes, and meditative storytelling. Recorded and performed entirely by Rickman herself, this second album channels solitary creativity and multi-instrumental textures into ten radiant pieces where sun, memory, and spirit intertwine in slow-burning, ornamental songforms.

**2025 Repress. Limited special edition, tri-colour LP: Orange, Black & Purple. Features original paintings by Daisy Rickman.** From the wind-swept coastlines of Cornwall, artist and musician Daisy Rickman brings forth Howl, her second album—a quietly mystical body of work rooted in the elemental cycles of nature and human longing. Released at the Spring Equinox, and reissued for Samhain on sunburst gold vinyl via Weird Walk Record Cult, Howl marks the intersection of radiant light and shadow: the Cornish title itself means "sun," but Rickman’s world also pulses with the magical, the hidden and the drift of the seasons. Each song on Howl is a deeply personal invocation, crafted in the solitary confines of Rickman’s home studio. She draws from a palette of acoustic and 12-string guitar, double bass, drums, percussion, sitar, cello, bouzouki, banjo, accordion, clarinet, fiddle and synth—layering her own voice and instrumental blends in an alchemical dialogue. There’s a meditative intimacy to Rickman’s approach, akin to Vashti Bunyan’s ethereal folk and the shadowed velvet of Nico, filtered through Cornish mythology and spiritual reverence. Album highlights linger in hypnotic refrains, sun-flower rituals and gently swirling harmonies: from the golden dance of "Bleujen an Howl" ("Sunflower Petals Gold") to the later-winter hush of "Winter Solstice," Rickman’s lyrics float between light and dissolution, offering poetic visions of ancestors, constellations and communal belonging.

The artwork, featuring Rickman’s own oil painting "Benow Howl" ("Feminine Sun") and evocative portraiture by Amelia Pemberton, immerses the listener in sun-drenched symbolism—a direct nod to Hilma af Klint’s mystical influence on Rickman’s spiritual and artistic practice. The album’s physical editions, especially the gold vinyl released in partnership with Weird Walk, foreground the ritualistic side of the project—connecting song to season, tradition to innovation, and folk ritual to contemporary artistic independence. Howl stands as a testament to solitary creation, self-recorded and self-produced between 2020 and 2023, mixed by Rickman and Cassius Nymh, then mastered by Ryan Van Kriedt. The album both honors ancestral lines and lights a new way forward, blending folk, dream-pop and visionary lyricism. With its limited editions and ritual launch events, Howl is not just a collection of songs, but a multisensory experience—inward gaze, sunward reach and celebration of the vital, feminine force at the heart of Cornish folklore.
