1983 UK re-issue on Jasmine Records of the 1967 album featuring Alan Silva, Henry Grimes and Donald Ayler.

condition (record/cover): NM / EX (small tag on front, in shrink)

The same extraordinary music, in a considerably more affordable jacket. Albert Ayler's Village recordings from 1966 and 1967 remain the clearest statement of what he was actually after: not chaos but a kind of ecstatic folk music, built from marches, hymns and half-remembered melodies, played at a volume and with a vibrato that made the whole avant-garde argument sound suddenly beside the point. Donald Ayler's trumpet, the strings, the sheer physical force of the group in a room. Everything Ayler is remembered for is here.

UK Jasmine pressing. A sane way to own this record if the original Impulse! is out of reach, and it plays exactly as loud.
