Temporary special price. The second of the four live volumes compiled in 1993 for The Grey Area of Mute from the Throbbing Gristle tape archive, with Brian Lustmord as archive researcher and track selection consultant and Chris Carter mixing and remastering the recordings. It covers the months around D.o.A.: four pieces from the Rat Club in London on 17 December 1977, four from Goldsmiths College on 18 May 1978 and two from the Industrial Training College in Wakefield on 1 July 1978.
The Rat Club set opens with Tesco Disco and goes on through a ten-minute Knife In My Side, Urge To Kill and Assume Power Focus. From Goldsmiths come a twelve-minute IBM, It's Always The Way, Hamburger Lady and the closing D.O.A., from the same concert that gave the studio album its Dead On Arrival. Wakefield adds short versions of Mother Spunk and Cabaret Voltaire.
The group is Genesis P-Orridge on vocals, bass and violin, Cosey Fanni Tutti on lead guitar, effects and cornet, Chris Carter on synthesizers, electronic rhythms and tapes, and Peter Christopherson on tapes, machines, vocals and cornet. Cosey Fanni Tutti also wrote the liner notes, and the artwork is by Disinformation.
The Grey Area CD (TGCD 11), later European pressing without the transparent overlay sheet of the first edition, in a standard jewel case with a two-page insert.
