The second Sound Ecology issue of the Toronto magazine, with articles on Joëlle Léandre and René Lussier, David Rothenberg on the avant-garde and the natural world, and texts on John Cage and Stan Brakhage. The CD begins with the mridangam player Trichy Sankaran and the Evergreen Club Gamelan Ensemble, Karnatak rhythm cycles worked into Javanese gongs.
Then come Kathy Kennedy's pieces for voices and city space, Felix Hess's recording of Australian frogs, nightjars and roe deer by Peter Cusack, rainforest material processed by Douglas Quin, and the canaries of the Kanary Grand Band, recorded at Het Apollohuis in Eindhoven and slowed to human speed.
