Aki Takahashi recorded these pieces in 1972 and 1973 for the three-LP Piano Space set. Two early works by Toru Takemitsu, Uninterrupted Rests (1952) and Piano Distance (1961), stand beside works written for her: Yori-Aki Matsudaira's Allotropy for Pianist, Joji Yuasa's On the Keyboard and Toshi Ichiyanagi's Piano Media, inspired by computer-generated music.
Side B holds Maeander (1973) by her brother Yuji Takahashi, over twenty minutes long. This is the 1978 single LP drawn from the box, a promotional copy with obi.
