Cometa was the Roman publisher that issued much of Egisto Macchi's library work in the seventies, and Preludi e non ("Preludes and Not") is one of the more inward records: piano-based, chamber-scaled, a set of short pieces that are preludes to nothing in particular, alternating with material that refuses even that label. It is Macchi the concert composer using the library format to publish sketches he could not have placed elsewhere.
Cometa pressings are scarce and often battered, having spent decades in production-house cupboards; this one is in good order. Original.
