Vivmmi
LP only. Limited Edition of 130 copies. These 37 minutes mark a turning point in Uhlig,s work. "Genmaicha: At the opal seashore (the last full length Aalfang Mit Pferdekopf-album on Mystery Sea, October 2005) was a already a vague hint of what comes now: Uhlig on the peak of low volume. "VIVMMI is divided into five segments accompanied by a host of verdant birds and the melancholic and peaceful humming chords of an old droning piano (and without much doubt: completely out-of-tune). As if someone…
I/D/V 01 [TURNTABLES]
A series of 7” records of 1 minute tracks and lock grooves. Focus of each volume is on one particular instrument and on the ways in which invited artists address the specifics of duration as defined by the given format. Duration here is not considered as a mere quantity of time, but as the subjective relations that we establish within time’s dimension. Twelve participants to the first two releases contribute one minute-long track and two locked grooves (of 1.8 seconds at 33.1/3 rpm). Each record…
Fielding
Hala Strana, is a project of LA-based multi-instrumentalist (and multi-instrument builder) Steven R. Smith, who is a member of Jewelled Antler flagship improv psych group Thuja and a solo artist in his own right. Hala Strana is his vehicle for instrumental droned-out Eastern European folk music appreciation/interpretation, and really represents some of his finest work to date. Multitracking turns Steven R. Smith into a one-man village orchestra, playing everything from violin to optigan, bul bul…
Temporal
Their third collaborational work following 'Tinnitus VU' mini CD on Touch and the full length 'Tocsin' album on Die Stadt (DS77). Z'EV started out with reworking basic sound material from the Organum archive back in 2006, which resulted in a collaborative mixing of the material until early 2008. The finishing touches were then left to David Jackman between March and June 2008. The overall tone on 'temporal' owes more to the 'classic' Organum sound than to Organum latest works, the trilogy : 'San…
Omega
The third and final part of the Organum trilogy that started with »Sanctus« (Robot Records - RR35) and »Amen« (Die Stadt - DS95). »Omega« is a further continuation of the first two parts. »While The Stars Be Not Darkened«. First edition of 600 copies in digipack sleeve. Collecting music for the sake of collecting is not something I am very keen. Music hearing for the sake of hearing music, that is what I like. There are a few artists whose new works I usually try to get, and Organum is one of th…
Die letzte Musik vor dem Krieg
Two brand new pieces from 2003. Piano on side A and Tibetan horns on side B add new sound colours to the classic Organum drones. Edition of 500 copies.
Radial
Radial was recorded on the first of June 2003 on acoustic cello without overdubs or editing.  Radial is a piece in three parts, a structure of continuous sound and/or silence.  Random order of the parts is encouraged. "Nikos Veliotis uses his cello without overdubs to break long minutes of silence with longer, muffled "manual" drones. "Radial" is one of those records I like calling "Sunday afternoon winter music": it's perfect in those grey cold days when you just want to stare out of the window…
The Sleeping Moustache
This curious quintet makes sounds that recall the glory days of Nurse With Wound: long, shapeshifting collages of psychedelic murk interrupted by random outbursts of industrial clatter, nightmarish drones, deeply bizarre audio mutations and tangible masses of sticky audio goop of impossibly vague origin. The Sleeping Moustache consists of five ten-minute tracks interspersed with five brief interstitial tracks. Everything blends together well because nothing blends together well; forced juxtaposi…
Drykkjuvisur Ohljodanna
In scandinavia, it's not uncommon to hear of someone's mother, grandfather, uncle, or plumber who drank him-or-herself to death at an early age; and the swedish drone artist bj nilsen has felt the alcoholic pangs which may foreshadow his own demise. in recent years, nilsen has turned to his icelandic neighbors Sigtryggur Berg sigmarsson and Helgi Thorsson (collectively known as stilluppsteypa) in existential sympathy over the problems of their collective lust for alcohol. drykkjuvisur ohljodanna…
Vikinga Brennivin
Brennivin is an Icelandic liquor vulcanized from the humble potato and flavored with cumin, although you’d be hard pressed to taste much beyond the astringent burn that it leaves in your mouth. Bottled in matte black glass and stamped with ominously simple labels, brennivin appears less like something to imbibe and more like poison; and in that creeping slow death kind of way, it is. For the Icelandic electro-absurdist outfit Stilluppsteypa, brennivin has soaked into every fiber of their being; …
