Molecule Plane, a project by Yuki Ohtsuka specializing in inducing the dissimilation of the acoustic space itself through sustained tonal layering and associated complex textural transformations, is pleased to announce the release of its new album on Shrine.jp.

Yuki Ohtsuka is an electronic musician and mastering engineer living in Kyoto. He studied electroacoustic music composition, acousmonium performance, and sound technology at Osaka University of Arts, where he also completed his master's degree.

Since around 2010, he has been creating club music and performing live under the name Route09 and the unit A.N.R.i. with ima, while continuing to perform his own specialty, the acousmonium, and create works that are performed with it. He also works as a mastering engineer, and has worked with Tomonari Higaki, Hajime Fukuma, Tentenko, and others.

Molecule Plane began in 2014 as a solo project specializing in inducing the dissimilation of the acoustic space itself through sustained tonal layering and associated complex textural transformations, and has released two CD album "Acousticophilia"(299 Music, 2016), and "Schematic" (Kyou Records, 2017). In addition, he recently released "The Extra-Ordinary" series of extra albums dedicated to live recordings on bandcamp. Many of his live performances using modular synthesizers, which have been developed very flexibly in recent years, are also performed under this name, and this project is currently at the core of his musical activities.

This "Apocrypha" is his third album, his first release in five years since the 2017 release of "Schematic". The songs were originally created for electronic music festivals and concert projects, and were not originally intended to be made into an album. However, when the release of this album was commissioned, the value of these songs as a whole album was discovered, and the album was created by reworking the mix and reconfiguring the tonal layers. If the original album is the "scripture" for the artist, these songs are the "Apocrypha" so to speak.

The soundscape of this album, derived from the artist's multifaceted musical experiences in club, acousmatic, and sound engineering, is an exploration of "carving echoes," stitching together ambient, drone, noise, and music concrete, and enveloping the listener with an overwhelming sense of depth.

Details of the recorded works are as follows

1. Aerial - created for the opening and introduction of "Program D: Yuki Ohtsuka / Molecule Plane Works" at "Born Creative Festival 2022 - Electronics Music Room".
2. Pilgrimage - Premiered at Nara "Brand New Sounds" Art Festival 2018 "Concert 4 = Trip Around The Ears" with his own acousmonium performance. The work was titled "Pilgrimage" because it was a concert of electroacoustic music with the theme of tourism.
3. Heretics - created for the Nara "Brand New Sounds" Art Festival 2020. The concert was limited to 10 seats, so the distance from the audience was closer, and the work was created with this spatial feature in mind.
4. the Empress - Produced for "Electronic and Acousmatic Paris-Tokyo Sounds [day 2 - Acousmatic-]" held at Ryogoku Monten Hall in Tokyo in 2018. Also performed at "Born Creative Festival 2022 - Electronics Music Room", with some revisions.
5. Disentangle - Produced for "Born Creative Festival 2022 - Electronics Music Room". It was the last piece in the "Program D: Yuki Ohtsuka/Molecule Plane Works".
6. Cortex - Created for "Motus-CCMC2018 Kyoto". This work aimed to deepen the surface layers and layered structure of the sound while continuing the experimentation of the previous work "Schematic".
7. Hekatoncheir - Created for "CCMC2019 Tokyo". It was produced at the time when the live performance with modular synthesizers became active, and the experience there was feedback.
8. Pseudepigrapha - The only song on the album that is a new work that was started for this album.

The album title "Apocrypha" refers to the nature of the songs recorded so far, but this song is the only one created for this album, so it is titled "Pseudepigrapha" because of its different nature
