A recital by the clarinettist Gaspare Tirincanti that runs from the early nineteenth century to the start of the 1980s. The first side opens with the Studio by Gaetano Donizetti and the Sonata in Re by Nino Rota, then turns to the present with Niccolò Castiglioni's Daleth and Iara by Alearco Ambrosi.
The second side is the more radical. Luciano Berio's Sequenza IX, written in 1980, keeps a single line circling a closed field of pitches, and Franco Donatoni's Clair, from the same year, is made of quick, restless figures. Tirincanti closes with his own Clarinettologia. An unlikely issue on Real Sound, a label otherwise given to pop and disco.
