Yong Yandsen is a musician from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is member SiCKL (formerly the  EMACM), a collective promoting avant-garde and experimental music and expressions in Malaysia. Some may know his name from the Shang compilation, released on Xing-Wu, with two other artists from Malaysia. Yandsen did compose a piece for guitar, which was his first intrument that he dropped in favor of  tenor saxophone some years ago.

With his tenor you can hear him on various recordings from the band Klangmutationen, but here it is the first time solo. This album collects 7 improvisational pieces recorded over a period of two years in Cheras, KL. Free tenor sax with strong breath and playing with pitch in a lyrical style that make Yandsen the heir to related inspirations of the great free-form sax masters Albert Ayler, Kaoru Abe and Masayoshi Urabe.

Since his first solo LP,  Yandsen toured extensively in Asia,  partnering with musicians such as Otomo Yoshihide, Paal Nilsen-Love, Christian Means Svendsen, Sabu Toyozumi and many more.

Black vinyl limited to 300 copies. Mastering by Giuseppe Ielasi. Artwork by Loïc Verdillon
