The saxophone and drums duo Sbatax, Bertrand Denzler and Antonin Gerbal, joined by Jean-Philippe Gross on electroacoustic device: a ferocious live set from Instants Chavirés where free jazz drive meets loops, feedback and crackling interference.

Sbatax + Gross pushes Bertrand Denzler and Antonin Gerbal’s already volatile saxophone and drums language into rougher, stranger terrain, with Jean Philippe Gross feeding the duo’s velocity through crackling electroacoustic interference and destabilized texture. What begins as propulsion becomes abrasion, then density, then a kind of ecstatic mechanical turbulence, as loops, feedback, and fractured signals knot themselves around Denzler’s tenor and Gerbal’s relentless pulse. It is a ferocious and rigorously physical set, where free jazz force is continuously bent, smeared, and reassembled into something at once punishing and precise.

Sbatax + Gross. Bertrand Denzler - tenor saxophone. Antonin Gerbal - drums. Jean-Philippe Gross - electroacoustic device.
