Trio session by Binker Golding (saxophones), Olie Brice (double bass) and Eddie Prévost (drums), recorded at All Saints Church, High Laver, Essex, on 3 February 2026; the fourth volume of Prévost's High Laver series.

Sounding-Out: Jazz Is Dead, Long Live Jazz puts Eddie Prévost, the drummer who co-founded AMM in 1965, in a saxophone, bass and drums trio with two players from a younger London generation. The subtitle names the tension the record works from: a format with deep roots in jazz, taken up by a musician who spent six decades helping to build a non-idiomatic language outside it. It is the fourth volume of the series Prévost has recorded in All Saints Church at High Laver, Essex, which opened in 2023 with a duo with John Butcher.

Binker Golding plays saxophones and Olie Brice double bass, with Prévost at the drum kit. Golding is known for his duo Binker and Moses, Brice is a bassist from London's improvising scene, and the three had already met in a quintet with guitarists Henry Kaiser and N.O. Moore on The Secret Handshake with Danger, issued by 577 Records. This session was recorded by Alex Bonney in the church at High Laver on 3 February 2026. Five pieces run for just over an hour. The fourth, Of This World, lasts 34 minutes on its own, between shorter pieces such as A Bowl of Strings and A Serpent's Last Words. In his booklet essay, dated Matching Tye, April 2026, Prévost draws on a quotation from Mark Solms and a line attributed to Claude Shannon.

Released by Matchless Recordings in August 2026 as MRCD 120, a CD mastered by Rupert Clervaux, with notes by Prévost and design by Myah Chun.
