Edition of 1000 hand-numbered copies.

A Trinidadian-born pianist who was a genuine celebrity by her twenties, appeared in Hollywood films on the condition that she never play a maid, refused to perform for segregated audiences, and was blacklisted after testifying before the House Un-American Activities Committee. Hazel Scott also happened to be a formidable jazz pianist, which the film career tended to obscure. Relaxed Piano Moods was made for Charles Mingus and Max Roach's Debut label with both of them in the trio, and it is exactly what the title says: unhurried, harmonically rich, entirely unconcerned with proving anything.

Debut pressing. A remarkable musician and a remarkable life, documented at the point where she had least to lose.
