Original Italian edition on Black Saint of the 1982 album featuring Julius Hemphill, Oliver Lake and David Murray.

condition (record/cover): NM / NM

Four saxophones, no rhythm section, and one of the most successful ideas in modern jazz. Julius Hemphill, Oliver Lake, Hamiet Bluiett and David Murray came out of the St. Louis and New York loft scenes and worked out that a saxophone quartet could carry harmony, rhythm and melody entirely by itself if the writing was good enough. Hemphill's arrangements are the engine: dense, contrapuntal, gospel-inflected and swinging hard despite the total absence of drums. Revue is the group at its compositional peak, before the tribute albums and the personnel changes.

Original Italian Black Saint pressing. The best band nobody could categorise, on the label that understood them.
