Francisco Meirino

Francisco Meirino is a sound artist and composer based in Lausanne, born in Switzerland to Spanish parents. Active since 1994, he recorded as Phroq until 2009, moving away from harsh noise towards composition. His work deals with the tension between programmed material and its failure, recording what is not supposed to be heard: broken equipment, dying PA systems, magnetic fields, electrostatic noise and EVP. He works with computer, modular synthesizer, reel-to-reel tape, magnetic field detectors and piezo microphones.
