Frank Michael Beyer, a Berlin composer with a taste for clear lines and long breath, is heard here in three works from 1975 to 1981. Griechenland (1981), music for three string groups in three movements, was recorded in February 1983 by the NDR Sinfonieorchester under Karl Anton Rickenbacher.
The Trio for oboe, viola and harp (1980) is played by Heinz Holliger, Hirofumi Fukai and Ursula Holliger, while Diaphonie (1975) was recorded in 1978 by the Symphonie-Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks conducted by Cristóbal Halffter. Liner notes by Wolfgang Burde, and a Franz Marc painting of 1914 on the gatefold cover.
