Five Columbia soloists, one each per instrument: Shoji Yokouchi on guitar, Hidehiko Matsumoto on tenor, Takeru Shiraiso, Kazuo Yashiro on piano and Setsuo Ohashi on trumpet, each given a Latin standard and a rhythm section and left to it. The "solo mood" format was Columbia's way of putting its star sidemen on the front cover, and it produces a better record than the anthologies, because each player gets space.

Yashiro was a serious jazz pianist, a Tokyo Bud Powell, and his contribution alone justifies the disc. Japanese Columbia PS series.
