Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin were both followers of Sri Chinmoy when they made this album for Columbia, between October 1972 and March 1973, and the guru wrote the liner notes. It opens with John Coltrane: a version of A Love Supreme for two electric guitars and a heavy percussion section, then a three-minute Naima.
The drum chair passes among Billy Cobham, Don Alias, Mike Shrieve and Jan Hammer, better known as a keyboard player, with Armando Peraza and Mingo Lewis on percussion and Doug Rauch on bass. The organ is Larry Young, credited as Khalid Yasin. Side two begins with nearly sixteen minutes of the traditional Let Us Go Into The House Of The Lord, arranged by the two guitarists.
