Two hours, two discs, one man at the edge of language. 2 Hours Live - Fortune of Twelve gathers an extended solo performance by Jojo Hiroshige, captured in the song-and-noise form he has pursued alongside his work in Hijokaidan. Hiroshige once described the relationship at the heart of this music as two sides of one equation: escaping into sound because of an inarticulacy with words, and using sound to say what words cannot. Across these two hours that tension plays out in real time, his voice and his roaring guitar braided into a single body of sound, the songs holding their shape even as noise threatens to overwhelm them. It is confrontational and oddly intimate at once.
The title nods to his second life as a fortune teller, a reminder of the wry humour running beneath the intensity. Issued by Alchemy Records as a double CD in 2016.
