2024 stock. Mini-LP Papersleeve Replica CD. Following the stunning reissue of Transa (1972), Elemental Music, together with Universal Music, proudly presents a new reissue of another long unavailable gem by the one and only Caetano Veloso.

Also known as A Little More Blue or London, London, Caetano Veloso (1971) is the third self-titled album by the Brazilian genius and the first to be recorded in London, where the artist was living in exile from the Brazilian dictatorship. This masterpiece is considered one of the greatest albums of Caetano’s career. It contains a number of incredibly beautiful tunes filled with themes of loss and longing that no doubt come from his separation from Brazil. Veloso’s extreme bitterness and melancholy can be heard on every groove of this, his first UK album (the second was the aforementioned Transa, recorded in 1972). Caetano Veloso was first released in Europe in 1971, and then in Brazil later that year, where two verses of the first song were considered subversive and censored. The song “Maria Bethânia” was also slightly censored as some guttural sounds sung by Veloso towards the end of the track were found to be offensive and removed. The current edition contains, for the first time ever since its European release, the full-uncensored versions of “A Little More Blue” and “Maria Bethânia”, exactly as they were recorded and released in Europe in 1971.

This historic edition remains more relevant than ever in the current global political climate in which fundamental human rights, such as freedom of expression and migratory movements, are again threatened. This album, as a first-hand testimony of a political exile, helps reclaim the dignity of the victims of political exile throughout the world.
