*2025 stock. 250 copies limited edition* Tam Thi Pham (born in 1990) is a Vietnamese musician based in Hamburg, Germany. She plays the dan bau, a traditional Vietnamese one-string instrument, which she incorporates into improvisation and composing. On the occasion of a visit to Japan in December 2023, Pham performed at Ftarri, Tokyo, on December 11, together with Yukiko Shiina Sakurazawa (contrabass), Minami Takei (percussion) and Masahide Tokunaga (alto sax). This CD contains the two sets (of 30 minutes each) performed by the four musicians. Pham played the dan bau in the first set and electronics in the second. Her performances in both sets were exuberant and highly creative. Sakurazawa, Takei and Tokunaga responded to Pham’s compelling presence with their own excellent performances, and the resulting music was superb.
