José Lencastre, Joao Hasselberg, Kresten Osgood

Fundacja Słuchaj proudly announces the release of This Anger is a Liar, a searing new album from the powerhouse trio of Portuguese saxophonist José Lencastre, bassist João Hasselberg, and Danish drummer Kresten Osgood. Captured in a single, electrifying studio session, this collection of fully improvised music confronts fury, deception, and catharsis head-on, transforming personal turmoil into collective triumph.

Lencastre's tenor sax cuts through like a blade—fierce, lyrical, and unyielding—while Hasselberg's bass anchors the chaos with propulsive grooves and haunting arco lines. Osgood's drumming erupts in polyrhythmic storms, propelling the trio into uncharted territory. Tracks like the title cut pulse with deceptive calm before exploding into raw intensity, echoing the spirit of free jazz pioneers while forging a distinctly modern edge. It's music that lies to anger, revealing truth in the fray.

"This album is our reckoning with rage—not as destruction, but as fuel for creation," says Lencastre. "In the heat of the moment, we found freedom." Recorded with pristine intimacy, This Anger is a Liar underscores the label's commitment to boundary-pushing improvisation.
