1970, and two people drag the Moog synthesiser onto a European stage before anybody had worked out what it was for. Paul Bley and Annette Peacock had been given one of the first portable Moogs by Robert Moog himself, and Dual Unity is the sound of them using it as a free improvising instrument rather than a keyboard: pitch bending wildly, feeding Peacock's voice through the oscillators, refusing every convention of both electronic music and jazz simultaneously. Recorded live in Europe, ferocious and disorienting throughout. It predates almost everything it resembles.
Freedom pressing. One of the first genuinely radical uses of synthesis in improvised music, and still ahead of most of what followed.
