The 1957 indeterminate composition performed here by four pianos and also simultaneously with Atlas Eclipticalis with the addition of flutes played by Eberhard Blum, released by Hat Art on CD only in 1993.

condition (disc/cover): NM / NM

John Cage wrote Winter Music in 1957 for one to twenty pianists, twenty pages of scattered chords to be used in whole or part, in any order and with long silences between the events. Four pianists, Kristine Scholz, Mats Persson, Nils Vigeland and Steffen Schleiermacher, recorded two realizations of thirty minutes each in Berlin on 6 June 1993.

On the second the piano is superimposed on a 1992 Frankfurt recording of Atlas Eclipticalis (1961 to 1962), the score Cage traced from star charts, played on flutes, alto flute and piccolo by Eberhard Blum. Sparse clusters meet thin, high lines. Released by hat ART in 1993, with notes by Art Lange.
