The German EMI Electrola pressing of the Symphony No.1 and Anaklasis, both conducted by the composer. An alternative to the Argo pressings and the various Central European editions, the German release brought these works into a different distribution network - the EMI Electrola catalogue had a specific weight in the West German market where new music from the East was followed with particular attention, both musical and political. The sleeve and label carry the weight of that context: contemporary Eastern European music on a major Western label, in the country where the Warsaw Autumn had found some of its most committed audiences, and where the premiere of the St. Luke Passion in 1966 had taken place. Original German pressing.
