Krzysztof Penderecki

Sinfonie Und Anaklasis Für Streicher Und Schlagzeug (LP)

Label: EMI

Format: LP

Genre: Compositional

Out of stock

The 1973 transitional symphonic work by the Polish composer plus the 1959 masterpiece for 42 strings and percussion, conducted by the composer himself and released on EMI in the late 1970's.

condition (records/cover): NM / NM

The German EMI Electrola pressing of the Symphony No.1 and Anaklasis, both conducted by the composer. An alternative to the Argo pressings and the various Central European editions, the German release brought these works into a different distribution network - the EMI Electrola catalogue had a specific weight in the West German market where new music from the East was followed with particular attention, both musical and political. The sleeve and label carry the weight of that context: contemporary Eastern European music on a major Western label, in the country where the Warsaw Autumn had found some of its most committed audiences, and where the premiere of the St. Luke Passion in 1966 had taken place. Original German pressing.
